Several people have asked why the Hales Tidal Turbine pontoon, which was already on the River Thames at Greenwich had not been entered for this wonderful parade of 1,000 boats and craft which motored down the river as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Sunday 3rd June.
We don't know which section of vessels a renewable energy generator would have been placed, the unit would probably have followed on behind to show something for the future and have the pontoon towed along at 4 knots, the speed of the parade.
With the turbine in the water working and the special lighting display on the top, this would have been a wonderful show case for Green Energy.
However, during the time period for applications to join the Thames Jubilee Pageant, the Hales Turbine Project was still working through the red tape to test on the Thames, so sadly missed the chance.
