                    IT'S NOT FISH - IT'S ENERGY

As the world watches the discussions taking place between the UK and the EU to find a trading position on completion of the Brexit transition period, which concludes on the 31st December 2020, much of the news and discussion is regarding the present EU Common Fishing Policy which gives the EU operation control over many aspects of the UK's territorial waters and the UK's planned position after exiting the EU  of an Independent coastal state.

While the EU and many ill-informed persons in the UK feel that giving up fishing quotes would be a small price to pay, considering the very small part of the nation's  total GDP that it effects, sadly very few understand  there is a much greater issue involved in this matter.

Unless the UK retail FULL overall sovereign control of these territorial waters and that overrules any form of fishing quotes agreed with other nations, then when the world moves towards a Carbon Zero position, the MARINE ENERGY sources in these waters which will be vital for the UK to achieve this position will be lost.

Off Shore Wind, Tidal Stream and Wave Generation combined will allow the UK to achieve this total Carbon Zero position and with sensible ring-fencing of  seabed licensing and taxes, this can reduce or cancel the UK's Nation Debt with ease.

The UK already has its own Exclusive Economic Zone in which it has special rights regarding the production of energy from its waters. Surely the UK will retain those same rights after it leaves the EU.
