In the first month of build, the new 32,000 litre water flow test and demonstration tank, located at Hastings, East Sussex, starts to take shape.
Much of the internal framing, water flow drive system etc has to be install before startng the fill and commissioning the test tank,
With a capacity to take prototypes up to 1.5 metres in width, Hales Water Turbines Ltd will be able to install fully working Ducted Hales Turbine Micro-Generation units for performance improvements and customer demostrations at flow speeds accurately controlled for long periods as and when required, unlike the limited runs times in a tow tank.
The clear observation window in the testing area will also allow flow patterns to be observed as well as possible artificial fish models to be observed passing through without harm. Video work can also be conducted etc.
The build is expected to be completed within three months.
