CHERBOURG INTERNATIONAL MARINE ENERGY SHOW

The Cherbourg Marine Energy  Symposium ( THETIS), held on the 9th & 10th April was a  very large show with over 260 exhibitors from more than 20 countries, with an additional B2B bilateral meeting arrangement that provided for trade visitors to meet and discuss directly with other trade organisation etc. This was a large but very well organised and progressive show.   What was most evident  by the number of french companies, was the great strides being made by France to embrace and advance into Marine Energy.

Two delegates from Hales Energy attended both days, as well as holding several B2B meetings, which resulted in  discussions  with a French company to research the possible construction of the Hales Turbine ducting sections in marine grade alumimium, other talks held with exibitors could result in exchanges of information to improve the designs in several areas.   One very interesting fact arose from the show was that HR Wallingford Ltd, a large independent UK  testing and research  centre has just built a new race track water flow test tank similar to Hales Energy's  tank in Hastings, East Sussex.
We will certainly attend similar THETIS shows in the future.
