HALES TURBINE - IN TALKS TO INSTALL IN OPERATIONAL SITES
AFTER COMPLETION OF TWO YEARS DETAILED R&D IN THE SPECIAL WATER FLOW TEST AND DISPLAY TANK IN THE FACTORY UNIT IN HASTINGS, EAST SUSSEX, WHICH IS NOW CLOSED DOWN AND SOLD. HALES WATER TURBINES LTD (HWT ltd) IS STARTING DISCUSSIONS, BOTH WITH POSSIBLE OPERATIONAL SITES AROUND THE WORLD AND WITH FUNDING SOURCES TO HELP COVER THE CONSTRUCTION, DEPLOYMENT, LONG TERM MAINTENANCE AND MANAGEMENT COSTS OF THE SITES.
THE THREE POSSIBLE SITE LOCATIONS WE ARE IN TALKS WITH ALREADY ARE ALL LOOKING FOR DIFFERING OUTPUTS AND REASONS FOR RENEWABLE GENERATION, BUT ALL ARE SEEKING DEPLOYMENT USING A FLOATATION SYSTEM OR ENERGY BARGE, SOMEWHAT SIMILAR TO OUR FORMER PROTOTYPE UNIT AT GREENWICH ON THE THAMES.
A GREAT DEAL RESEARCH AND DATA COLLECTION IS TAKING PLACE IN THE UK TO BOTH UNDERSTAND AND TAKE FORWARD THE DEPLOYMENT OF RUN OF RIVER AND ESTUARY/COASTAL FORMS OF WATER GENERATING TURBINES TO PROVIDE A CLEAN AND SUSTAINABLE RENEWABLE ENERGY TO THE GRID AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
WHILE SOME ORGANISATIONS CLAIM UP TO 29,000 SITES POSSIBLE WATER SOURCE ENERGY GENERATION SITES IN THE UK ALONE, THE UK HAS SOME OF THE MOST RESTRICTIVE REGULATIONS AND LICENSING SYSTEMS THAT PREVENT AND DELAY THE MAJORITY OF ENERGY DEVELOPERS FROM BOTHERING TO GO FORWARD WITH THESE SCHEMES.
HALES WATER TURBINES Ltd HAS JOINED WITH SEVERAL OTHER COMPANIES AND ORGANISATIONS , TO BOTH EDUCATE THE GOVERNMENT AND DEPARTMENTS SUCH AS DEFRA TO THE PHYSICAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HIGH SPEED SUCTION AND PRESSURE DELIVERY PUMP SYSTEMS AND ENERGY EXTRACTION DEVICES.
THESE HIGH SPEED PUMPS ETC ,USED TO EXTRACT AND DELIVER WATER THAT CAN KILL OR HARM FISH AND WILDLIFE DUE TO AREAS OF EXTREME PRESSURE AND THE HIGH SPEED IMPACT FROM MOVING IMPELLERS DIFFER GREATLY FROM THE MORE BENIGN ACTION OF MANY MODERN SLOW SPEED WATER FLOW ENERGY GENERATORS THAT ABSORB KINETIC ENERGY FROM THE WATER FLOWS, OFTEN REDUCING THE PRESSURE AND FLOW SPEEDS, THIS, WITH MUCH SLOWER MOVING IMPELLERS THAT DOES NOT PRODUCE THE HARMFUL CLEAVER ACTION.
THE EXCESSIVE SCREENING REQUIREMENTS OF EELS (ENGLAND & WALES) REGULATIONS 2009 TO PREVENT POSSIBLE HARM TO GLASS EELS (ELVERS) DURING THEIR MIGRATION, PREVENTS THE MAJORITY OF ANY RUN OF RIVER AND MANY LOW HEAD GENERATION SYSTEMS TO BE CONSIDERED AS THE SCREENING COST ARE OFTEN GREATER THAN THE GENERATION SYSTEM. THIS VERY FINE SCREENING, WHICH DESTROYS THE DIRECT ENERGY FLOWS INTO AN ENERGY GENERATOR, A LEGAL REQUIREMENT ONLY IN THE UK, (WHILE TWENTY OTHER COUNTRIES IN THE EU DEALING WITH THE EUROPEAN EEL, DECLINE HAVE NO SUCH SCREENING REQUIREMENTS) NEEDS TO BE EXPLAINED TO HYDRO DEVELOPERS BY DEFRA AND THEN REVIEWED AND OMITTED FROM THE 2009 REGS TO HELP THE UK WORK MORE TOWARDS ENERGY SELF RELIANCE.
