REACTION TYPE TIDAL TURBINES BECOMING STANDARD

               
        AS THE RESEARCH PROGRESSES ON VARIOUS FORMS OF TIDAL STREAM TURBINES AROUND THE WORLD, MOST OBSERVERS OF THIS MARINE ENERGY SOURCE CAN DESCRIBE AND UNDERSTAND SEVERAL OF THE PROPOSED / TESTED DESIGNS THAT FOLLOW THE STANDARD OFF-SHORE WIND TURBINE DESIGN WITH ALTERATIONS IN SIZE AND MATERIALS TO HANDLE THE EXTRA HARSH UNDERWATER CONDITIONS.

SIMPLY EXPLAINED, THIS IS A DEVICE THAT HAS A FLAT BLADE OR SIMILAR THAT IS POSITIONED ACROSS THE FLOW OF THE TIDE OR CURRENT AND WHEN FEELING THE PRESSURE FROM THIS FLOW REACTS BY MOVING IN A LINEAR WAY, SHOULD THE BLADE BE ATTACHED TO A CENTRAL SHAFT THEN THE MOVEMENT IS ROTATION, SIMILAR THE THE STANDARD UNDER SHOT WATER WHEEL.

SEVERAL DESIGNS, SUCH AS OPEN HYDRO, TIDAL SAIL, HALES TURBINE  AND THE  EXIM SAVONIUS TURBINE  ETC, ALONG WITH MANY OTHER DESIGNS ARE BEING TESTED.




AS THE UNDERSTANDING  GROWS, SO THE NEW TIDAL STREAM TURBINE FORMS WILL BE BETTER UNDERSTOOD AND WIDEN THE AREAS OF POSSIBLE DEPLOYMENT.
THE DUCTED HALES TURBINE, OUR REACTION TURBINE DESIGN,  IS TARGETED FOR EFFECTIVE DEPLOYMENT IN FLOWS AS SLOW AS 1 M/S WITH 35% TURBINE EFFICIENCY.
