The beautiful and remote settings of the Maldive Islands in the Indian Ocean have captured the hearts of so many people, the dream of many as a honeymoon location with the peace and cleanliness of the tropical lagoons.
One major item missing from this wonderful place is a readily and local supply of energy for normal domestic and commercial operations, especially on some of the remote lagoons.
One of the main developers who build and create these developments both here and in other Asian locations have started talks with Hales Energy Ltd about using small ducted versions of the Hales tidal stream turbine in the 1.0 m/s lagoon waters beneath the chalets.
Wind turbines being considered to noisy and to many solar panels would spoil the vista people have of the area. The environmentally friendly marine Hales Turbines would be totally submerged and out of sight from the visitors.
